Little Pine Lake: Custom Nautical Chart Wallpaper on Suede

On Little Pine Lake in Minnesota, the shoreline isn't just scenery, it is a legacy. Working alongside Paula Ness of Paula Ness Interior Design, we transformed standard wall coverings into a personal art statement that celebrates the family's favorite waters.

Developed over six months with care and a strong sense of place, this custom nautical chart wallpaper was crafted specifically for the Ness family home. From the earliest layout discussions to the final color refinements and tactile finish of our Suede textured material, every decision was intentional. The result is a graceful blend of luxury lake house interior design and cherished family history.

A Little Pine Lake Legacy

Little Pine Lake is far more than a scenic setting; it is the anchor of the Ness family. Paula's father purchased the original cabin in 1957, and today, all of her siblings have retired on the same lake, lovingly referring to themselves as the "Bentley Bunch."

"The whole main floor is pretty open, so when we gather around that fireplace and at the table on a cold, rainy day, we have that full view of the lake," Paula explained. We are honored that our custom nautical chart wallpaper serves as the backdrop for these treasured gatherings.

Scandinavian Coastal Lake Decor

There is always something special about working with an interior designer on their own home. Paula brought a clear "Scandinavian Coastal" design vision to the project, alongside an intuitive understanding of how the room needed to function.

The dining area called for a unique wall feature with presence, but not heaviness. “We wanted our lake to be almost at eye level so that people could see where Little Pine was,” said Paula. The installation perfectly complements the window, sits naturally near the fireplace, and keeps the lake at the center of the story.

Personalized Nautical Chart Wallpaper

This is where custom work makes all the difference. As with all of our custom nautical chart wallpaper, this installation was made-to-measure for the architecture rather than forced into a one-size-fits-all mural. The composition was adjusted to frame the window, the scale was refined to bring the lake into the perfect visual plane, and the colors were customized to harmonize with the home's broader coastal blue palette.

A meaningful touch was added during final personalization. "And then we have a red anchor that shows our home," Paula shared. The anchor is a subtle detail that changes everything, adding warmth and recognition into wallpaper that becomes personal.

Suede Textured Wallpaper Benefits

Material selection played a major role in the success of this room. Printed on our Suede textured wallpaper, the finished wall has a softness and depth impossible to achieve with a flat, standard matte finish.

Our Suede material is a designer favorite for a reason. Its lightly stippled texture naturally diffuses incoming light, significantly reducing glare from the home's expansive south-facing windows. Beyond its sophisticated aesthetic, the material is engineered for real life. Printed on commercial-grade DreamScape™ vinyl, the resulting mural is highly durable, perfect for withstanding the joyful chaos of visiting grandchildren, large family fish fries, and muddy paws.
